COME PLAY WITH US
Each month we publish a newsletter that includes a calendar of monthly activities for MOMS Club® of Blaine members. Events include park play dates, going to local kid friendly attractions, play dates hosted by members and outreach events where we give back to the community. We also have play groups, coordinate Mom's Night Outs and put on our detective hats for Secret Sisters. You can take a look at a typical month for us by clicking on the sample calendar below. Have a great idea for an event on next month's calendar? Be sure and add it to our calendar at our monthly All Member Meeting or email in your idea to our Calendar Coordinator who can let you know what dates are still available. As you look over the calendar remember your kids are welcome at all of our events with the sole exception of Mom's Night Out where we enjoy some kid free time! Are you a nursing mom? Don't worry, we make an exception for nursing moms and their little one. Below are some of the events we've done in the past and some of the on going events we love so much we keep them on our calendars!

UPCOMING EVENTS
MOM'S NIGHT OUT
We have a Mom's Night Out (MNO) almost every month where we often meet at a local resturant, movie theatre or at a member's house. This is a great way to get to know other members and enjoy some kid free time. COOKING CLUB We have a Cooking Club themed play date most months which is a great chance to make your favorite recipes and learn new ones. There is a theme (ex. Salads, After School Snacks, Soups, etc.) announced in advance. As you might expect there's no shortage of yummy food at these get togethers! MONTHLY SOCIAL In addition to club events each month we have our All Member Meeting which is held at a local business where we have plenty of toys to keep our little ones busy. Coming to an All Member Meeting is a great way to check out the club before you join and meet some moms. Just click on 'Contact Us' for all the details! |
SEASONAL EVENTS
SPRING
Favorites include seed planting, crafts, indoor play dates and as weather allows outdoor activies like play dates at local parks, nature walks and bike rides. SUMMER Our summer calendar is always full of outdoor fun. Beachside Commons, Elm Creek Park and Aquatore Park are a few of our favorite hot spots! Pack a lunch and make a day of it or just stay long enough to ensure your kiddos are tired out enough you know they'll take a good nap :) FALL Nothing says fall like leaf jumping, indoor play and a fall favorite-picking apples at a local orchard. Come explore fun play options with other mom who have found the play dates are just as much for the moms as they are for the kids! WINTER Club favorites include our Holiday Cookie Exchange/MOMS Night Out, sledding, seasonal crafts and indoor play dates at fun places like kid friendly museums, indoor play areas and the low key favorite...home play dates. *These are some of the typical events our club especially enjoys but we are up for new ideas. Are you a member who has an event in mind? Be sure and let our Calendar Coordinator know what you'd like to host! |
PAST EVENTS
STORY TIME AT THE LIBRARY
Always a big hit on our club calendar, you will find MOMS Club members at Story Time which often features singing songs and other fun activities. PLAY GROUPS Play groups based on age meet for play dates. Moms with siblings of a different age are welcome to come along too! SPRINGBROOK NATURE CENTER Come learn about local animals at this kid friendly hot spot. CHILDRENS MUSEUM Kids can pretend to ride a city bus, play dress up, build in a pretend factory, be ants, watch a pretend thunder storm, see live animals and on warm days in the summer soak up some sun on the roof top play area. Have a little one you are worried isn't ready to interact with these areas? Head to the pond themed area with lots of things for kiddos under age 4 and their families to enjoy including a mirror pond and pretend flowers. Bonus-at lunch time you can eat a packed lunch at their table area or head to a near by eatery. SLEDDING We took advantage of all the snow we had this year with several sledding play dates. Favorite sledding locations were near by MOMS Club member homes and a few other kid friendly gentle slops around town. PLAY DATES WITH A MUSICAL THEME Kiddos have fun playing with musical toys. This playdate has been a popular one! MUSIC IN THE PARK Area moms interested in checking out MOMS Club® of Blaine where able to find us at a local park which had a kid friendly band who played fun music for kids to dance to. This was a great chance to get to know some new faces. Thanks to everyone to came and joined the fun! TIE-DIE T-SHIRTS We had a great time making our own tie dyed t-shirts. We used the permanent marker and rubbing alcohol method which was great because kids got to be super involved. So much fun to see all the different ideas! This very low prep and kid friendly activity is a keeper :) BAKE SALE
We had another bake sale at the infamous (not to mention huge!) Blaine Garage Sale on Sat, May 12th. The proceeds raised were used to make cozy fleece blankets to donate to the Children's Hospital. Thanks to everyone who came out! |
IMPROMPTU EGG HUNT
A group of us decided to do a club egg hunt. We all brought ten eggs for each participating kiddo then a few of us hid eggs behind plants, bushes and trees leaving some out in the open for our youngest hunters. We put the kids ages three and younger in one group and let them have a head start. Once they'd all gotten several eggs we let the rest of the kids start hunting! DANCE PARTY Moms (and of course their kids!) interested in checking out MOMS Club® enjoyed a pizza buffet, dancing and of course meet other members at our Dance Party/Open House cohosted by MOMS Club® of Blaine and MOMS Club® of Coon Rapids at a local sports bar. Thanks to everyone who helped coordinate this fun event! COOKIE EXCHANGE Moms baked one kind of cookies and headed home with an awesome assortment just in time for the holidays! |
PET STORE TOUR
We found a way to have a zoo like outing even in the cold weather! We recently took a tour of a near by pet store where we got the inside scoop on all their animals including seeing lizards who don't blink but lick their eye lids, we learned about different types of fish (and watched a big one eat it's lunch!), we saw some happily napping cats and kids who wanted to could hold a real Chinchilla! MUSICAL ALL MEMBERS MEETING We had a musical theme at a recent All Member Meeting when we had a company come out and do a music class for our group. Our kids got to play with instruments, sing songs and have a blast moving with the music. BLAINE FIRE STATION TOUR We had so much fun going last year we decided to set up another tour of the Blaine Fire station where we got to talk about what to do in a fire, see all the clothes they wear to stay safe and see the fire trucks up close! We saw where the fire fighters go to exercise to stay strong and even the mom's learned about ways to keep our houses extra safe. |
SECRET SISTERS GAME
It was so fun to talk about how each of us avoided getting "caught" dropping off our Secret Sister gifts this year. We each were assigned another mom and left gifts and clues each week. This game is hugely popular with many of our members. If you want in on the next game let a board member know. You'll be so glad you did! SEED PLANTING Getting ready for our new club garden we got together and planted seeds using this great use for toliet paper rolls. Our club garden is offically started as you can see in the following pictures. We have some baby peas coming up even after those crazy storms! A master gardener from Anoka county came and spoke at our All Member Meeting, talking to our club about our upcoming Grow a Row project and general gardening tips. |
COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROJECTS
GROW A ROW
Donating fresh produce we grow as a club and have donated by friends to local food banks.
FALL SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Each fall we donate school supplies to area elementary schools. We base the items we purchase off of the school supply lists so schools can distribute them to students in need.
ADOPT-A-FAMILY
During the holidays we are fortunate to work with area social workers, giving back to area families in need.
PRESCHOOL FAIR
As parents who have looked for preschools for our own kids, we strive to have lots of preschools all in one place for parents to come and talk to in person allowing parents to compare 'apples to apples' without having to drive all over town. We print a take home information packet with all the contact information to speed up your preschool research.
ALEXANDRA HOUSE
Donating items in need to a local battered woman's shelter.
CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
Members make fleece blankets to give to families with little ones at Children's Hospital.
